Expanding our working network
We're also playing into space (see astronaut above!) and learning how to expand Meet 19 in a way that doesn't compromise our ethos and set-up. Having researched the town we discovered it has plenty to offer while doing well to fight off the effects of national and local economic struggle. For example, we noted that American Express is a major employer having returned to the town in 2015, while on the retail front, there are two shopping areas, The Martlets and Market Place, where the former seems to be modern and thriving and where, frankly, the latter could do with a bit more love and reinvestment for it's traditional open market spaces.
A great choice of venue
We lucked out with the venues as we had a number vying to take us in, but we settled with the Block and Gasket on the main strip in Church Road, namely for the fact it inspired us being a turnaround success story, where once it was known as 'rough pub' on it's knees, it now welcomes in families, runs club nights and provides well-kept craft beer and a tasty food menu. Unpretentious while newly refurbed the atmosphere is welcoming and warm and special mention must go to the landlord who couldn't be more helpful. With a bit of parking out front or in the Waitrose car park behind The Martlets we feel it's the right spot to build a business, enterprise and community hub.
Booking has already begun
Tickets to the Burgess Hill Meet 19 event have already begun take up, and if you're new to our free network we only have a maximum of 20 so that we can ensure everyone walks away with not just business cards, but a chance of a proper face-to-face pitch opportunity without distractions.
